Unisen Donates in Support of Wounded Soldiers

Michael Brown presenting donation check to Colonel Jim Griffin

Unisen Executive Director, Michael Brown, wanted to help volunteers make a difference.

True to the Unisen philosophy of serving the greater communities, he’s taken an active role in supporting a group of volunteers providing much-needed assistance to wounded/injured military personnel currently undergoing rehabilitation at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital.

As Executive Director of Unisen’s predecessor, University Village, Brown attended a dinner event at the hospital organized by Operation Helping Hand (OpHH). Meeting with military personnel and Operation Helping Hand’s leaders during this event moved him to action. He wanted to support the people who had sacrificed everything for our country and knew it was a cause the entire Unisen community would get behind. Soon, Unisen became a civic/community party for OpHH and Brown has pledged Unisen’s support so long as it is needed.

On March 17, 2021, Brown invited Lieutenant Colonel Jim Griffin, Chairman of Operation Helping Hand, to Unisen and presented him with a check in support of the program.

Several Unisen residents have also contributed their time and financial aid to OpHH. It’s a cause that is near and dear to our community and we will continue to be an active partner for the organization as they endeavor to help our servicepeople recover from combat-related wounds and injuries that require rehabilitation.
